Disjointed tidbits

I burnt my grilled-cheese sandwich. So much for shaved legs and a skirt helping with cooking... damn you socially perpetuated myths and improperly connected corellations!

Speaking of improperly connected corellations, I had to laugh at the study I heard of (no link, I'm afraid) that showed people that drink make more money than those that don't. Not a single time did it mention the possibility that maybe, just maybe, people that make less money don't drink because it's damn expensive. Especially at bars.

The new Barenaked Ladies CD is out, and the tour to go with it comes through Salt Lake City (well, West Valley City, but who's counting?). The problem is that the concert here is the day before Thanksgiving, and I've already promised to be on the East Coast for Thanksgiving. Translation: bloody hell. There are shows in LA and San Francisco the next week that I might consider.

I heard about said study on NPR and was wondering the same thing. The conclusion they came to (drinkers socialize and network better in the business world) was one of several obvious explanations for the correlation.

Wow, a burned grilled cheese sandwich and a study that could use some serious peer review, both in one day? My mind is completely blown.

Amazing.

There's a brief article in today's Chicago Tribune about that study. Ssurprisingly, it does mention the alternate possibility.
