Saw the Movie
Some randomass thoughts.
Slash fic has spoiled my brain without me even reading it. Every time two characters looked at each other, I could barely keep from snickering.
Gandalf is badass, and Denethor deserved to be beaten up at random. The removal of the Palantir of Minas Tirith even made it so he had no reason for being crazy and stupid. And what was up with all the food? I did catch the subtle resemblence to Wormtongue, though.
I hope that in the DVD extended edition there is a conversation at Isengard between Gandalf and Saruman. That's a really spiffy scene.
The camerawork annoyed me, when it all-too-often seemed shaky and hasty. It's easier to follow Frodo's hands as he crawls with a series of cuts than with someone crawling beside him with the camera. It felt like the Blair Witch Project.
So-denethor-lit-himself-on-fire-and-was-like-WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! No two stewards are not on fire.
Hobbits turn into gnomes when they get old. Just look at Bilbo.
And other stuff. Final verdict: I approve. Not a movie I'd mind seeing again.
To pack, to sleep, to leave.
