All I can say is JEEBUS. All in one level:

Seven status messages on level entry. "You feel somewhat uneasy. <3x> You sense a powerful object. You sense a very dangerous place. You feel somewhat uneasy. <2x>"
Five unique monsters: Ugluk the Uruk, Shagrat the Orc Captain, Gorbag the Orc Captain, Khim Son of Mim, and the Queen Ant.
Pit, with a checkerboard of goodies, and the five uniques.
Special feeling (duh).
Player ghost.

All the time I spent beating on the uniques - burning all my two dozen heal potions, 2/3 of the healing staff I found, half my potions of speed, and most of my arrows - there were Giant Fireflies breeding in the pit. Even burning all my wands of noxious cloud, I can't get back in there; if I do, I'm blind for far too long. Now I'm out of food, if I try to make another run to clean the place up I'll die of hunger before I can see to recall out. Nothing lying around the level will cure blindness or give resistance, and I still haven't found an artifact. Even my luck has been screwed, since there was a lucksucker early in the pit.

I had to recall out, without an artifact. Only 12,000 xp for my efforts.

You cannot escape!

Ugluk seems the only rough unique on the list (though I suppose The Queen Ant out of depth is annoying, though she's usually a pansy when I find her). 2 dozen potions of healing seems extreme for a someone of a level to still fighting those uniques; did you scum the temple or something? I don't think luck affects anything except level generation, though I could be wrong (it's *different* than TOME's luck system).
