Bigger update later

So - given that I'm already taking Algorithms and LSD, and the only other hum I'm interested in is closed, which class should I take in the MW 11:00-12:15 timeslot?

Computer Systems (105) from Erlinger (17/20 in the class)
or
Programming Languages (131) from O'Neill (10/20 in the class)

I'm not thrilled about either subject, but I'm not willing to take a 12-credit semester yet.

I'd take the class from Mike.

I've been informed by Mike that I'm grutoring CS105; I did last year with Adrian, but he graduated. Anyway, CS105 is definitely an easier course than PLs; I'd save PLs for an otherwise-light semester, like you do with LSD, CS70, et cetera. I took LSD, PLs and CS105 in one semester; I survived but it wasn't fun.

Oh yes, and CS105 is a fun class (especially when Mike or Geoff is teaching it). You get to defuse bombs, exploit systems, and do all sorts of other interesting things.

It's weird (but relieving) to hear you say that, since I thought PLs was easy (despite the C+) and I'm terrified out of my wits of CS105.

I'm not famillior with either course, but small classes can really kick-ass... even when the subject or prof would normally leave something to be desired.

I'd take 105 from Mike. In my (limited) experience, classes from O'Neill tend to be rather nasty and involve lots of work for you, since she doesn't quite understand that it takes you much longer to do something than it would take her. Combining that with LSD and Algorithms would probably be a bad idea.

Hey, do you know what the fire trucks last night were about? I thought I smelled smoke, but I didn't see anything burning.

No idea.

I saw one driving (with its lights and siren on) quickly west on Foothill, and not too long later saw one driving (sans ligts and siren) leisurely east on 12th. That's all I know, I never noticed any scent of burning.

There were three with sirens going to the west side of my apartment complex when I got home from work around 8.
