Longest. Bandora. Ever.
And now, after starting a bit late at 6:30, we finish at 10:30 and, so to speak, there is much rejoicing. A demon is defeated, the proper Dwarven king is restored, and only a few innocent bystanders died. Recap: (This will make little sense to those not up on the plot. Deal with it. Or: Bandora Sunday Website)
The session started at the critical moment in the Dwarven council meeting. We stepped from the secret passage, much to the chagrin of the assembled lords. After much bickering, and barely overpowering Rorsch's objections, Urloc donned the amulet that told only the truth. Once the king's bodyguard became convinced that the king was actually evil, he charged and was flattened by a Darksphinx portalling in on top of him. The thing cast a cloud of evil into the room (conveniently slaying the cleric whose player had stopped showing up) and killed some of the dwarven lords too. While the paladin and barbarian took care of the pesky darksphinx (the mage was knocked unconscious by the cloud of stinking evil) I chased the escaping king down the secret passage. Catching up with Rorsch, I leapt on his back, driving my dagger into his heart and rolling off as he collapsed, leaving him to die and chasing down the king. I caught him as he tripped (critical failure on DEX check in the chase) and held him there until Crom came to beat him unconscious with the flat of his sword. (Meanwhile, the king failed to switch his body and mine, which would have been all bad.) Dragging him back to the dwarven council, eventually all was revealed. In the king's body was the mind of the evil Urloc, and in Urloc's body was the mind of the good king, and if any but the evil Urloc had told us, the state would have become permanent. The king got his body back and we ended session.
Wow. I ranted.
