Well, fuck me.

CS 70 section 2 was closed, with one already on the wait list.
CS 81 was closed, with five already on the wait list.

Every other course in the CS major has one or both of these two classes as a prerequisite, and the only class anywhere near my intended path, Scientific Computing, conflicts with the other section of 70.

So, I wrote off emails to Stone and Kuenning to see if we could work anything out to get me in. Maybe they'll finagle stuff to let more people into those classes, but my timeslots aren't exactly flexible into the places that they'd move those classes. I hate to be the stick in the mud that makes everything else move, but I don't know what choice I have.

That's happened a LOT lately. Last semester when I was trying to register, all the CS courses down to 60 closed except one section of algorithms, which I didn't technically have the prereqs for yet. Fortunately the profs understand and will be nice. Sometimes people will also let you take things without all the prereqs, if it is the only class you can take.

Trust me, I feel for ya. I'm seriously thinking about changing to a less popular major just so I can at least get in to a required class once in a while.
