The zen of Zangband
I installed Zangband on my laptop as a lark. It's something to do to burn small amounts of time, and if I die I can simply start again with a new character.
This system breaks down when you get a character that starts doing moderately well.
Allrand V is the zombie death-paladin that somehow, mysteriously, has reached Clvl 15. Now, on a water-filled Dlvl 11, she's run into a pit of baby blue dragons, and only wailed through so many of them before that starting Scroll of Protection from Evil ran out. I've got one teleport scroll left, two cure potions, and a ridiculous number of hitpoints, but that's it. My obsessive tendencies want me to clean them up but I think that would be death.
Walking away from this would be a good lesson to learn.
I may just be too used to ToME, but I'm getting annoyed by the complete lack of loot. Through fifteen character levels, the ego items I've found have been:
a Dagger of Slay Orc (+5,+0%) (sitting in my pack for when I start running into orcs, otherwise worse than a mundane broadsword)
a Pair of Hard Leather Boots of Stealth [3,+1] (+6) (No reason not to wear them?)
Aaand that's it. Other than being a zombie I would have no resistances and no see invis. I'm kinda afraid to go lower without fire res and pretty sure I won't find anything if I don't go deeper.
