I blame Delwin.
Oct. 8th, 2003 10:45 amSunday campaign seems to be dragging, lately. It seems like we're spending more time talking about useless stuff and getting confused than we are actually doing stuff. No matter how many times I bug people to go post to the boards, get the boring part out of the way during the week, nothing ever seems to happen about it. We only have three hours of game time each week, so I want to make the best of it.
I hate to sound like an elitist, but I feel like the group could use some trimming. Right now it's Valdir, Fleck, Kirran, Argus, Rolf, and Delwin. In session, it feels like Argus and Rolf never seem to speak up, and I forget about them. Delwin, on the other hand, speaks up loudly and poorly, and can't be bothered to spell- or grammer-check anything he says, or use the shift key. I really feel like my gaming experience is worse merely on account of his presense.
Online gaming dynamics are different than face-to-face. In an offline game, things move faster, and you can see everybody even if they're being quiet, so you can manage a larger group of up to six players (more if you're a l33t DM like I'm not). Online, if someone doesn't speak up, they might as well not be there; if too many people speak, everything gets subsumed in a wash of lines. Beyond about three players, things just get stupid and confusing. This number can be higher, as much as five, if the players are all very experienced and work well together, but really, my favorite online games were the original Thardferr AA group (Yemetina, Covenant, Dalamar, and Forrest) and the core Sunday Bandora players (Saeris, Cromwell, Vaeron, Malachi). Any attempt to add to those always seems to degrade the game.
I have a bio test now.
