Re voice acting: I have Bob's Kerri's voice recorded (thanks [livejournal.com profile] katmerlin!), any takers on a second? I'll probably have the lip-syncing done on what I have by, uh, Friday. I'd like to have a Mark by then - anyone interested?

So I need some voices for Machinima. The assignment is to have two characters talking, and I only have one voice. And not one I like, either. So - anyone interested in a credited part in my homework?

The script (warning: contains politics) )

What I'd like is for anyone interested to record the lines from one (or both) characters and send them to me, mp3 or ogg or whatever since I'll be breaking them up to wav anyway. Gender doesn't matter, I just used Mark and Bob because they're the instructors for the class. You'll get named in the credits (under whatever pseudonym you want!) and personally emailed the link if I ever put the results on YouTube.

I find myself in a position where I can write Turrent / Weighted Companion Cube slash.

And animate it.

For homework.

"That looks mind-numbingly boring."

"You really are anal."

I'm trying to get Fleck's UV coordinates all laid out nicely. For those outside the graphics loop, the UV coordinates are the mapping from vertices on a 3-D model (I can't believe I had to teach Firefox the word 'vertices') to points on a 2-D texture. Basically, laying them out is finding the optimal way to peel the skin off and lay it flat within a square. Try to use as much of the square as possible, don't distort any face any more than you have to, and put seams in easily-hidden place. Oh, and did I mention that the model has 12,606 individual quads? It's extremely fiddly and precise work, with the exact amount of everything-coming-together that enables me to fall into a trance and work on it for hours on end, forgetting things like eating.

Actually putting a texture under those coordinates is going to be another matter entirely.

And with that, one class closer to mastering science. In all honesty I've nothing left to do for HCI either, but will still have to show up to class Wednesday and Friday.

Now: off to find some chocolate, and work on the model.

I officially work in retail now! Well, at the archery range anyway. I'm the one holding down the register 12-6 on Sundays. All you local folks should come rent bows and stuff from me. :-) (And no, I don't work on commission. Sundays are apparently really slow days all the time. Yesterday there were all of ten people between noon and four, then no one for an hour. Just as we finished closing up the cash register, a crowd of eight piled down the stairs, with half an hour until closing. Never mind that Larry has a bus to catch...

I dropped my bus pass somewhere as I was running around today. Since I checked the lab spaces where I was sitting, that means it either fell out on the bus itself, or as I was walking across campus ... neither of which bodes well for getting the damn thing back. I got it replaced, and if it does turn up after all I can get a refund, but arg. Not making me happy, that. That and trying to build a UI in Matlab (that's right) have made for a tear-your-hair-out day, even though I spent the whole time convinced it was Tuesday. No such luck, apparently.

We're down to four weeks of classes. I have the Matlab UI and related stuff (though the group has left the coding to me), the Fleck model (for which I finally have a face template), and in theory some geometry homework (which will be scheduled exctly backward - written work this weekend, programming over Thanksgiving). No finals, and three assignments and a midterm to grade. That doesn't seem like much, at all.

So for my Human-Computer Interaction class, I'm working on a project related to color-blindness. I'd like a few volunteers that I can show some pictures to, and ask for opinions - either whether two things look the same, or if a modified image looks hideously ugly even though the colors have better contrast. Also, if you have any examples of websites with poor color choices, links would be awesome.

My brain.

I knew this was coming.

PLs hurts my brain, a lot. I mean, a lot a lot. Ow.

I don't want to need to be able to think in these terms. Ever. If it's actually useful for a graphics computer scientist, I quit.

The Pomona CS server is down. Now that PLs homework (two classes worth of it) is posted, the server is down. You know, the only homework that I can't do tomorrow? Yeah, no such luck.

I want to take a sledgehammer to it, or something equivalent. The best I had was knifing a stack of roundtable flyers. It'll have to do for now.

I just spent five hours on a Latin assignment.

The first one of the semester.
