Me again

Been busy, and not with schoolwork. This week will be busy with schoolwork - statement of work due Friday for Clinic.

As Lauren said, she, Hilary and I went to a pirate rennaisance faire near Ojai yesterday. It was fun, although coming from Colorado, it was not what I expected. If I were to be part of a faire, though, this would be the kind I'd want it to be. It wasn't (too) swarmed with people; it had grass instead of dust (mostly); merchants were mostly local instead of going out of their way to get in. Each performing group could set up their own camp, right alongside the shops, and behind those period pavillions there was no attempt made to hide the nylon-and-fiberglass tents that they'd slept (and more than likely fucked) in the night before. The mock battle was unconvincing, but the powder in the cannons was entirely real.

Moreover, the booty was cheap. I've looked at my share of loot at faires, and have never seen these kinds of prices. Hilary and I got daggers, and Lauren got a knife, each for under $30. I held off on getting anything else, since my shopping list at Lancaster Archery Supply is up to $378 for (mostly) just a sight and v-bars. The process of making my bow my own will be a few phases:

Stuff I already have: Bowstring, bow sling, finger tab, spinwings.
Phase 1 (soon): Quiver, armguard, arrow puller, v-bars, sight. ~$400.
Phase 2 (November maybe): Limbs, stabilizer. ~$300-500, depending.
Phase 3 (March?): Riser, arrow rest, clicker, plunger. ~$400-500.
Phase 4 (May): Arrows. ~$300, if I get enough to last me for a while - probably two dozen.

It kinda bothers me that so much of archery supply is dedicated specifically to bowhunting, although I do see why.

Oh man. I've really been obsessing about this lately, and it's looking more and more expensive.
