What would a week be without computer issues?

So, now my desktop fails to boot entirely except in safe mode. It hangs at the wonderful Windows-scrolling-bar-screen. It's extremely tempting at this point to just pack the damn thing, putting away speakers and the smaller monitor (the larger one has become increasingly necessary for my laptop), and being that much closer to ready to get out of here...

Meanwhile, I've spent the last two days at work trying to find a bug that turned out to be a neatly hidden uninitialized variable. Four characters of fix in eight thousand lines of file.
