Stupider and stupider
Apr. 5th, 2004 05:24 pmI went to all my classes today. Unfortunately, despite my efforts, not all my classes deigned to return the favor and come to me. Today was supposed to be the last day of the Sound section of Lighting, Sound, and Management, but the freelancer who's been teaching us never appeared. Everybody left by 9:35, and I crashed on the couch in the studio, deciding it entirely not worth it to haul my body back to Mudd only to head southward again. Rehearsal time with the band did go really well, serving to remind myself that (a) I can still match a pitch with decent competence and (b) my voice has gone out of practice. I have four days to bring my mid-high range back.
I actually went to Perception and Cognition, taking at least a few notes, and got back up to 81 in decent time. On returning to the lab to finish the already-late lab, I entirely failed to notice that Katy had put the new versions of the pictures in a new folder on our disk, proceeded to panic, then gave up and used the actual OLD pictures, script font and everything. Only after running one subject did I notice the new files neatly arranged in their folder. Repeatedly cursing myself for stupidity, I knew full well I couldn't go back to those pictures for fear of confounding data, so script font it was.
There were exactly three other people in the lab, so we have three sets of data plus my own. Mine are invalid, probably, given that I made the images I was searching for the D in.
On the way back up, my bike decided that crossing College Avenue was its favorite place in the whole wide world, and celebrated by throwing the chain. I knew it was suspect that the bike shop hadn't replaced the derailleur, but nothing to be done about that now - I just have to ride in highish gear or risk dropping the chain again. Now my hands are covered in chain grease, which doesn't come off very well, and I have to get 70 done tonight or tomorrow, to boot. Not to mention, you know, eating and stuff.
