Simple pleasures
Mar. 21st, 2005 01:16 pmI'm slowly moving up to better equipment in archery. Today we put a clicker on my bow - a flap of metal that goes snick when I pull my arrow past it, so I know I've got the same draw length each time - and the arrows I had been using were ridiculously too long to use with a clicker. Apparently I have very short arms. Anyway, there were only 6 arrows to be found that were actually short enough, and they all had really skanky (or no) fletching. So I borrowed a stand and clamp set from Janet, and am currently parked on a bench in the courtyard refletching the arrows. I really appreciate the cleanness and elegance of fresh feathers.
I also moved my nocking point down by more than a half inch to where it's actually supposed to be. That probably explains why my arrows were falling off the rest so much, when I went down to practice yesterday.
The next tournament is in Long Beach, on the same weekend as Rocky. If I thought I could do it, on no significant sleep, I would... we'll see how I feel as it gets closer.
